Information Security In General Practice

A new resource has been published by the RACGP – Information security in general practice replaces the existing Computer and Information Security Standards (CISS). The new resource includes information relating to essential business practice and policies & procedures to protect general practice information systems.


After Hours Other Medical Practitioners (AHOMPs) Programme

Four new urgent after-hours MBS items were introduced on 1 March; and two existing urgent after-hours items were removed. Vocationally-registered and vocationally-recognised GPs and GP registrars will receive a higher MBS rebate than non-vocationally recognised doctors working in metropolitan areas.

Current urgent after-hours arrangements in rural and remote areas will not change; and current rebate levels for all doctors providing urgent after-hours services between 11:00pm and 7:00am will also stay the same … read more >>

Quality Improvement Incentive Deferred

The Department of Health has decided to delay the introduction of the Practice Incentive Program Quality Improvement Incentive until 1 May 2019. The new time-frame will mean that the following five incentives (which were to cease on 1 May 2018) will now continue through to 30 April 2019:

  • Asthma Incentive;
  • Quality Prescribing Incentive;
  • Cervical Screening Incentive;
  • Diabetes Incentive; and
  • General Practitioner Aged Care Access Incentive.
