Updated Vaccine Management Guidelines

The RACGP has updated the 5th edition Standards relating to the use of domestic fridges for vaccine storage. GP6.1 – Maintaining vaccine potency has been amended in line with the current National Vaccine Storage Guidelines – Strive for 5 (3rd edition). The Standards now state that domestic refrigerators must not be used for vaccine storage.

The wording about recording vaccine fridge temperatures – twice daily – has also been amended. Current temperatures should be recorded as well as the minimum and maximum temperatures.
