From 1 July 2021, the majority of MBS items for general practice services provided by phone (audio-only) will be removed. There are no changes to videoconferencing items.
Two new GP phone items will be introduced:

A short consultation item (<6 minutes) for straightforward care (item 91890)

A longer consultation item (>6 minutes) for more complex attendances (item 91891)
