Standing Down Employees

If a case of coronavirus is identified at your workplace, you may be given a direction by health authorities for the premises to be temporarily closed. If this happens, the Fair Work Act allows employers to stand-down staff – your staff may agree to use paid leave e.g. annual or long service leave, while the business is closed but for casual staff, they will need to take unpaid leave.
